Patricia Sickerson

Patricia Sue (Young) Sickerson passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at her home in Madrid, Iowa. She was born on January 26, 1949 in Jefferson, Iowa to John “Bud” Wilmont and Marjorie Eileen (Riggen) Young.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 8:00 p.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 207 Gerald St, Madrid, IA 50156. Mass of the Resurrection will be on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Byers Cemetery in rural Elkhart, Iowa.

Patricia graduated from East Green High School in Grand Junction, Iowa in 1967. While in high school, she was in honor bands, playing trumpet and French horn. She was even in the Bill Riley Talent Show. Patricia always loved music. She was also a part of the Rainbow Worthy Advisors, a religious organization for young girls. During her early years, she worked in her parent’s grocery store in Grand Junction.

She was united in marriage to William David Sickerson in Grand Junction, Iowa on November 11, 1972. Three children were born to this union, Jeremy, Darren and Amy. She worked as a banker for Bank of the West in Madrid, Iowa and retired in 2012. Patricia was a big part of the Madrid Community Chest for many years. She also helped coach soccer for her family members. Patricia enjoyed attending craft shows, playing cards, baking, camping, spending time in the cabin, Okoboji, and family gathering. Most of all, she dearly loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 51 years, William Sickerson; three children, Jeremy Sickerson, Darren (Heidi) Sickerson and Amy (Jon) Baker; grandchildren, Morgan (Kodjo), Drew, Madison, Sam and Emily; her siblings, Sandy Robertson, Bill (Mary Ann) Young, Meredy (Donny) Egan, Andrea (David) Schoff and Greg Young; brothers-in-law Johnny Sickerson and Daniel Sickerson; sister-in-law Linda Sickerson, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John “Bud” Wilmont and Marjorie Eileen (Riggen) Young, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Emma Sickerson, and her brother-in-law, Dean Robertson and Michael Sickerson, and nephew, Dan Egan.
