James Case, 78, passed away suddenly on April 29, 2017 in Jefferson, Iowa.

A Service of Remembrance was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 3 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson with Rev. Sheldon Henderson of Central Christian Church officiating. Honorary bearers were Jerry L. Spalding, Jerry Dean Dennhardt, Dennis Moranville and Dennis Scheuerman. Casket bearers were Jonathon Frantz, Brian Morgan, Johnny Case, Allyn Case, Shawn Ludwig and Charlie Ludwig. Interment was at Jefferson Cemetery with military rites by Floyd Brown American Legion Post #11 and Jefferson V.F.W. Post #9599.

James Franklin Case was born March 18, 1939 to the late Albert Case and Irene Beber, in Omaha, Nebraska. Jim attended school in Omaha until his family moved to Greene County when he was nine years old. He went to school until 8th grade and then began working at a bowling alley where he set up pins for a penny a piece. At age 18, he joined the Air Force as a parachutist. He was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Little Rock, Arkansas. Upon discharge from the service, he worked for Yeager Trucking Company in Missouri.

On September 1, 1960, Jim married Patricia Danieley. They had three children: Beverly, Johnny and Jimmy. In 1991, Patricia passed away of cancer. In 1996, Jim was remarried to Sandy Kinnan of Jefferson.

Jim was employed at Oscar-Meyer in Perry for 21 years. He then worked for the City of Jefferson until he retired in 2007.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, tinkering around in his garage, going to the casino, participating in “Beer-30” and spending precious time with his friends and family.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Chuck, Donnie and half-brother, Bob; sister, Stella; brother-in-law, Gary Kinnan; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Jones; mother-in-law, Gladys Kinnan; father-in-law, Virgil Kinnan; and spouse, Patricia Case.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughter, Beverly Morgan (Dan); sons, Johnny and Jimmy (Sally); stepson, Randy (Mel); sister, Pat Monagin; half-sister, Thelma Howell (Joe); half-sister, Kathleen Ochsner (Ken); brother, John Case (Ginny); sister-in-law, Shirley Earll (Terry); 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by countless friends and family.
