Sheana Story, 28, of Des Moines, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson with Fr. Jim Bruch of Ogden officiating. Readers will be Melissa Barrett, Sarah Walker and Sharon Dunlop. Honorary Bearers will be her nieces and nephews: Kya Grob, Paige Walker, Autumn Barrett, Lillian Barrett, Josie Walker, Walker Barrett, Kylie Walker and Jude Grace. Casket bearers will be Scott Ball, Shawn Scheuermann, Cotton Langley, Carson Skinner, Dusty McDonald, BJ Wright, Allen Case, Jordi Daughtry, Robyn Illingsworth and Alicia Patricks. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Jefferson.
Sheana Marie Story graced this world on April 1, 1990 and her light was dimmed on July 4, 2018, due to a tragic car accident. Sheana was a light in her family from the minute she arrived and with a light that bright, you can never really put it out. She was an adventurous little tike who was willing to try anything you put in front of her. She showed sheep in 4H, she played basketball for the Rams, she climbed trees, rode motorcycles, she dabbled in mixed martial arts and she was strong. Not only strong in the physical sense, but strong in family, strong in friendships, strong in faith, strong in loving and caring. She worked in many fields, but really felt most at home helping others.
As an adult, she lived her life out loud. She loved out loud. She cared out loud. She gave of herself out loud. There is no doubt that if you knew her, she made an impact on you out loud. Sheana’s zest for adventure continued and grew stronger. She had a passion for outdoor activities and exploration. With her try anything attitude, she started rock climbing. Both indoors learning the sport and forging beautiful relationships and outdoors in the beautiful Colorado mountains. She was a natural and did it with such grace and peace.
She loved music and supporting local artists. She recently attended the Electric Forest Festival in Michigan and danced with her friends, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, on the rooftop of a favorite watering hole. She was a huge fan of celebrations and showed up for a lot of them albeit usually late and she would have some elaborate reason for her tardiness, but it was always a true story.
That was one of Sheana’s many beautiful qualities. She showed up. Sheana was a present and caring person and when you needed her, she showed up. Sheana also had a longing to help people and help she did, she showed up. She was actively raising money by biking for Kids with Cancer and she was incredibly supportive with raising money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
She was funny and had a fantastic sense of humor. The Thanksgiving she was supposed to bring sweet potatoes won’t be forgotten… she brought them, plopped them on the counter still in the bag and had this look of utter confusion when told she had to prepare and cook them. She really had no idea.
She had a deep love for family and togetherness. She was the rock and the glue to her mother and siblings. When Sheana loved, she loved hard and if she told you she loved you, she meant it. She loved God and read the bible as much as possible. Deeply missed will be her beautiful smile, long loving hugs, her bright blue eyes and loving personality. Our sweet little sparkler will continue to flicker in our hearts forever.
Sheana leaves behind her mother, Nancy Walker; brothers, Ty (Kara) Grace and Michael (Cassie) Walker; sisters, Sarah Walker and Melissa (Mike) Barrett; grandpa, Jim Grace; father, Richard Story; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Sheana was welcomed into heaven by her stepfather, Rodney Walker; brothers: Todd, Michael and Matthew; nephew, Brently (Bo); grandmas: Mary Ann Grace, Roberta Walker and Margaret Smith.
