Edward Allan Marsh, son of Harry Marsh and Edith Wright, was born May 14, 1923 in Grant Township, Greene County, Iowa, and died March 31, 2016 at the Greene County Medical Center.

His funeral service was held Tuesday, April 5 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson. Jack Anderson of Jefferson conducted the funeral service. Honorary bearers were his nieces and nephews. Delores Anderson was the pianist and soloist, Josey Weaver sang “Amazing Grace” and “Happy Trails To You.” Burial was in the Jefferson Cemetery.

Ed’s parents’ farm was southeast of Jefferson, where the first Greene County Courthouse was located. He was one of seven children and they attended a rural school just north of their farm home. He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1941. Ed farmed with his father. On October 31, 1943, Ed was united in marriage with Grayce Mary McHugh at Central Christian Church in Jefferson. He worked for the Fremont Creamery in Jefferson, picking up cream. Ed also worked for the REC in Jefferson. The couple lived for several years on a farm east of Berkley, Iowa. During those years, Ed worked for the Kent Feed Store in Rippey. He also worked for Priebes and Oscar Mayer in Perry.

Ed dearly loved the horses he raised and he rode for many years. During their 74 years of marriage, Ed and Grayce were seldom apart.  They enjoyed fishing at Spirit Lake, camping, playing cards, going out for coffee and lunch, visiting with friends and going to Meskwaki Casino in Tama.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Clifford, Tom and Dwight; and three sisters: Doris Rice, Margaret Fountain and Gertrude Burkett.  Ed’s memory will be cherished by his wife, Grayce, many nieces and nephews and friends.
