Jonathan Majerus

Jonathan “Andy” Majerus, the son of August and Juanita (Malone) Majerus, was born October 2, 1951 in Harlan, Iowa and departed this life July 1, 2016 at his home near Paton, Iowa. He lived his life to the age of 64 years, 8 months and 29 days.

On August 12, 1982, Jonathan Majerus was united in marriage to Lynn Dilts at Yankton, South Dakota. To this union were born two daughters, Karilynn and Tracy. The family made their home in Scranton for 16 years, moved to Dana in 2001 and to their present home near Paton in 2003. Andy worked for Juhl’s Feed in Dana for the past 32 years as a feed truck driver. He served for three years on the Dana City Council.

Andy enjoyed tractor pulls and figure 8’s and every Saturday he could be found at the Boone Races. His family and his dog, Gunnar, gave him his biggest joy.

Andy is survived by his wife, Lynn; two daughters, Karilynn (Juan) Ordonez Deleon of Perry and Tracy (Paul) Gehling of Scranton; a brother, Doug Majerus of Carroll; eight grand-children and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Rusty Hanson; and sister-in-law, Melva Majerus .

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at The Dwelling Place in Jefferson with Pastor Seth Karber officiating. Burial was made in the Carroll City Cemetery. Musical selections were “If You Get There Before I Do” and “Daddy’s Hands.”  Visitation was held Friday, July 8 at the Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson. Serving as casket bearers were Jon Moore, Chae Malone, Gary Reed, Doug Fouch, Andrew Majerus, Daryl Luther, Dave Jones and Ronnie Madison. Honorary casket bearers were Taylor Majerus, Daniel Gehling, Yaakov Gehling, Colton Gehling, Jose Ordonez, Aailyah Gehling, Regina Lynn Majerus and Andy’s dog, Gunnar.
