Edmund Lowell Gose, age 80, of Jefferson, passed away suddenly in the comfort of his home on Nov. 29, 2021.

Ed was born on November 17, 1941 in Jefferson to Lowell and Dorothy (Henderson) Gose and grew up with his sisters, Patricia and Margaret, on the family farm west of Jefferson. After high school, Ed attended AIB and then joined his father on the farm. Ed faithfully nurtured his love of the land for over 60 years.

Ed especially loved spending his time attending to farm livestock, riding horses, snowmobiling with friends, hunting, fishing, and shared a deep love of music with his family.

In his early 20s he met his first love, Judith Ann Goettsch. They fell in love, married and started a family, complete with daughters, Cyndi and Laura, and son, Phil. As a family they loved time spent together attending to various livestock and crops, taking family vacations out west, enjoying time with extended family and enjoyed the love of music.  As Ed got older, he was very active within the Iowa Farmers Union, United Methodist Church, Christ Lutheran Church and other civic minded interests of the local community.

Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Ed and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. Later on in life, Ed found love again and married Janet K. Burmeister-Hillstrand in the year 2000, who preceded his passing in 2011.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Dorothy Gose. Ed is survived by his children: Cynthia (Mark) Richards of Mooresville, NC, Laura (Ross) Krieger of Boone, Philip (Kristin) Gose of Urbandale; step children: Elizabeth (Kent) Schultz of Cedar Rapids, Angela (Michael) Ask of Underwood, Rebecca (Jacob) Clark of Boone; sisters: Patricia Perrin of Raleigh NC, and Margaret (Karl) Schilling of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; other relatives and countless friends.

Visitation was held Saturday, Dec. 4 at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home – in Jefferson. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Christ Lutheran Church in Jefferson.

Memorials are suggested to the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County.
