Mary “Marcia” Minnihan has left this earth at the age of 76 years. Marcia was the youngest of three children born to Louis Patrick Minnihan and Katherine Bleich Minnihan in Jefferson. She lived a rich and inspiring life full of adventures. She was a farm girl who loved to explore and got to see the world with all its beauty. She was an avid reader, wrote poetry and loved the outdoors – from hiking to kayaking.

She attended a one-room schoolhouse, Jefferson High School, Marycrest College and the University of Iowa. Marcia settled into banking, starting as a secretary in the early 70s and retiring as Vice President of Portfolio Analytics at Wells Fargo in San Francisco. After leaving Iowa, she lived various places in California, as well as in Minneapolis and Washington, DC. She loved traveling and went to Europe, Asia, Central and South America many times.

She moved to Santa Cruz County after her retirement in 2010, and engaged in several volunteer activities, including tutoring, at St. Vincent De Paul and her local church. In recent years, she was particularly active in the League of Women Voters.

She is survived by son Doug and daughter Julia, two grandchildren and one great grandchild as well as one brother, one niece and two nephews and their families.

No formal service is planned, and a family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers Celebration of Life donations to the Santa Cruz Redwoods Restoration Fund through the Sempervirens Fund or the organization of your choice would be appreciated.
