Robert “Bobby” Daniel Books, age 35, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 30, 2021, in Jefferson at the Greene County Medical Center. He was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on Jan. 6, 1986, the son of Daniel and Susan Books.
Bobby spent most of his childhood in the Waukesha County area. He loved to go to the lake to fish or swim and was always by some body of water. He also loved to help his grandparents with the bar (Riverside) in Delafield. Cleaning, stocking, or just being around whoever was bartending or patronizing the establishment. Bobby’s high school years were spent between Palmyra but mostly in Prairie Du Chien, where he graduated high school. He again loved to be on the river fishing, and he often told me he got the nickname “river rat”. He also helped his dad and grandparents around the house a lot. He didn’t mind one bit.
During Bobby’s young adult life he moved in with his mom, then with his sister, Connie, in Iowa. Bobby spent most of his time working on farms with cattle or chickens. He loved being on the farm and would do almost any farm chore and did a lot of fishing here in Iowa, just as he did in Wisconsin. Bobby was a very tall and intimidating man but was the nicest guy anyone could have ever met. He is going to be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Bobby is survived by his sister Connie (Chris) Heitl; a special person he called “dad” Dayle Runkle; a “sister” friend of family Crystal Zielinski; Uncle Tim (Kathy) Books; Aunt Laurie (Thom) Millane; Aunt Mandy Books; Uncle Richard(Lisa) Heitl; Uncle Chuck(MaryAnn) Heitl, cousins and great cousins, and many friends.
Bobby is preceded in death by his dad Daniel John Books; mother, Susan Marie Books; paternal grandparents, Wilmer and Diane Books; maternal grandparents LeRoy Heitl and Elizabeth Brunner; and uncles, Jeff Books and Robert Heitl.
Sympathy cards may be sent to Connie Heitl, 1638 Payton Road, Corydon, IA 50060.
